I haven't posted to my blog for awhile. I do intend to get back to it to "fill in" things I have been doing in November of 2007, since retiring from CPRL. But, this post is made to include a video clip that I mentioned in my 2007 Christmas letter. It is taken from a web page from Indycar.com. It is the promotional TV video that was used this past racing season. It includes my license plate. I must give credit to my friend, James Staub, of TSLA for taking the web image and saving to a video clip for me. Season's Greetings everybody.

My "Wind Up" Day at CPRL this Halloween
Hello this Halloween evening. I wanted to take the time to share a few pictures with you from today. This was my final day as Regional Library Director as I am retiring. It also happened to be Halloween. At CPRL, some of us would dress up on Halloween, some not. For my costume, I thought it might be appropriate "to graduate from CPRL" today. So, I used my academic robe, Master's hood, and cap (used during my tenure at Huntington College as a faculty member).
Sharon King became a Chic-Fill-A cow today-- complete with udder and sign board.
We had a good day, enjoying each other's company at coffee break and other times during the day, while still getting work done. I just finished up a few odds and ends of things, wrote some emails of explanation, and backed up the "my documents" of the desktop computer. We had a former staff member, Ruth Rapier, drop by. And, I had some very nice phone calls from folks. The flowers are from Sharon Shotwell, who is our vendor representative for the McNaughton Book Leasing System.
I am going to give you a link to the flickr file here. It makes it easier to load and share pictures. They will be in a set of "Halloween and J.G. retirement day." I hope you enjoy seeing them. Just go to the link below and double click on the thumbnail of the flowers that says Halloween and J.G. retirement day http://www.flickr.com/photos/indyfanjudy/sets/

I wanted to share the fun time of my retirement party
Hi to all: I haven't posted to my blog
for awhile. I wanted to take this time to share with folks pictures from the recent retirement dinner that was given in my honor. The Clinch-Powell staff did a great job organizing and
pulling off the dinner. It was held at Harrison's Restaurant here in Clinton. It
was on the evening of Thursday, October 11th. I want to share my thanks to them with you through this blog.

I will be ending my 21 year career here at Clinch-Powell Regional Library on Wednesday, October 31st. (Somehow I think Halloween Day might be an appropriate time to make as my last day in the office.) I am not leaving Clinton, so I will be running into folks now and then. There may be some other library-related activities in my future life, but I will share that later, if it comes to be.
With help from my computer good friend, James Staub, at TSLA, I am now able to share the photos of my retirement dinner. The photos will be in a set, where at the end of the set are photos taken by Julie Webb, of Knoxville. Julie is actively involved in the statewide Friends of Tennessee Libraries. I also included pictures of the wonderful gifts that folks were gracious to present me. The pictures of the pictures: these pictures were all mounted in a frame. The glass was off of the frame so that folks present at the party could sign the picture frame matting. It was a very cool present from the CPRL staff. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Double-click on the thumbnail on the left of the opening page in Flickr.

How thoughtful library folks were today....
Today, at the TS
LA and Regional Directors meeting, I was takin' back at how folks were so nice to honor me due to my upcoming retirement as Clinch-Powell Regional Library director. The cake, flowers, and the gift box that was wrapped so cute, were all very thoughtful. My gifts will be used for their designated purposes. My understanding is that the Opry will be going back to the Ryman during the winter months. So, I will be watching out for a particularly good weekend's line up. My car will appreciate being fed at the Citgo gas station. I will use the crayons and the
coloring book with my cousin's grandson who loves to color pictures.
Formal "thank you" notes will be forthcoming, but I just wanted to share some thoughts and pictures on my blog with you while it was all fresh in my head.

Judy, Quit "Playing"
Today, I said to myself: Self, you can not "play" anymore on TSLA Learning 2.0 until you get some other things done. You, self, have been neglecting other projects. No wonder folks get in trouble for "playing on the Internet" at work. This stuff can be addictive. James S. had redesigned my template for my blog. And, I appreciate it, but I have to stop "playing" for awhile. j.g.

Learning how to do The Library Thing
As part of our TSLA Learning 2.0 exercises, we are using The Library Thing website to catalog our personal library. Since I am not actually in my home right now, I put in just a few titles of mine that I took off of the top of my head. So, I think, I am supposed to paste the link to my listing of my library holdings here:
Well, how about that, racefans. It worked. Judy g.

The IRL race at Michigan: Dario using one of his "9 lives"
It is Monday. The Indy Racing League was at the Michigan International Speedway yesterday. After a four hour rain delay, the race got underway. Toward the end of the race, Dario Franchitti, 2007 Indy 500 winner, got into trouble. His car went airborn. But he walked away unhurt. An incident like that verifies the safety that is built into open wheel racing cars these days. But, he still was using one of his "9 lives."
To watch a replay of Dario flying through the air, go to http://www.indycar.com/multimedia/videos/player.php?v=738

Scroll down to the bottom of this page for a link to an interesting video
At the bottom of this blog page is a link to the Indy Racing League website's "I am Indy" page. A promotional video was introduced earlier this year. Three different people told me my license plate was a part of that video before I ever saw it myself. The video starts out with pictures of race fans and "I am Party," then other pictures. Toward the end, there is a slide, "Maybe Fanatical." The next slide is a picture of my license plate. To view it, click on the link that will take you to the "I am Indy" page. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. There will be a black "video box" after the words to "I am Indy." Click on the small right-arrow in the lower left hand corner of the black "box." Sometimes it takes awhile to load. You may need to click on the box a second time for it to start. There is sound to the video for your computer's speakers.
I think it is pretty cool to have one's license plate in a promotional commercial. This promotion commercial plays on ESPN during the Indy Racing League broadcasts.
I do not really know when the picture was taken. My guess is it was when my car was parked at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway parking lot sometime last year.

Sharing Brickyard 400 pictures (7/29/07)
Thought I would share some pictures from the Brickyard 400 Nascar Race at the Indy Motor Speedway last week (7/29/07), with Tony Stewart, a Hoosier from Rushville and Columbus, Indiana, as the winner. The other pictures are "Before the Start" and a picture of NASCAR Champion Bill Elliott in the Little Debbie sponsored car. To take a closer look at the pictures you can left-click on the image.
